I have a cobra/davis derringer. It only will shoot from the top chamber. The bottom pin seems as if it hits the primer to soft. What should I do. I just got it from a gun show and I am afraid I got screwed. BillLau

I have never had the issue. I have heard if you switch the firing pins(top to bottom. Bottom to top) it can completely alleviate the problems. I have heard this on other forums and youtube as well. Good luck and hopefully you get that little gun shooting soon.

Thanks I will have to try this out and see if it helps. God willing it does and I can get into shooting it.

Well I switched the firing pins and know it does work pretty good. The gun shot great. The only Hiccup I had was with ejection. I was using Some aguila super colibri. Just a few hang ups when I had to dig my fingernail in to get it to stop binding. Overall I am happy with it. Its turning out to be a nice little gun for only 70 bucks!

Interesting to read this here these months later - a neighbor gifted me a little Davis (an older one, in .25, with a pretty low SN) this past weekend and . . . guess what? He told me it has problems with light strikes on one of the barrels. I pulled the thing apart and noted that it'd have to be the lower one - it displayed much less protrusion of the firing pin when compared to the cop. Interesting to note that Numrich shows different part numbers for the top and bottom pins - this might be something of concern to anyone reading the advice set forth above in this thread. Anyhow, I just played with screwing in the firing pin bushing tighter and with making sure the rear of the lower barrel locked in very tight with the front of the lower firing pin bushing. We'll see how it goes soon, God willing. Here's the little gun under my larger Bond Arms with the .45 ACP barrel set mounted:

Wanted to report back for the record: the little .25 worked perfectly after my ministrations - even blew a piece out of my chronograph's sky screen. 740.9 fps with 50-gr Federal American Eagle ball, BTW. Sent from my VS980 4G using proboards
