I have shot my fathers older pre 1964 Winchester model 94 in 30-30. It is a lot of genuine fun.
Now I have been contemplating getting a larger caliber derringer in 45/410 for a little while now. Last night I was thinking about how cool and fun it would be to shoot a lever action rifle in 45 colt. It would be nice to use and reload the same caliber for both a rifle and a handgun. Does anyone have a 45 colt lever action. If so what brand and what are your experiences with it? I will definitely keep my eyes out for a used one at a gun show or gun store. But any input would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have one personally, but a guy at my local range shoots a rossi. It seems to work pretty good and decently accurate. Would you ever do any cowboy shooting with one or just plinking around having fun?

I have a friend in IN who just bought a Rossi .45 Colt, and he's happier than a clam. My only levergun at the moment is a Navy Arms Rossi import .357 Model 92, one of the old pre-safety ones with the fancy wood. It's a terrific little gun.

I have two lever actions in . 45 Colt, both are Uberti's. I use them for cowboy action shooting. One is a Model 73 with a 20" octagon barrel and the other one is an iron frame Henry. It has a 24" octagon barrel. The iron frame models are kind of scarce, most of the ones I have seen have had brass frames. Here is my Model 1873: Here is my Henry: Both of these Uberti's are kind of pricey. I got them used. $900.00 for the 73' and $950.00 for the Henry. You can't go wrong with a Rossi 92. I have a blued one in .44 magnum with a 24" octagon barrel and I also have a "Mare's Leg" pistol in .44 magnum. The 92 rifle took a little work to smooth up the action. The pistol came pretty smooth right out of the box.

That certainly is a nice collection of lever actions you got there. They all have really nice stocks and finishes. Is the mares leg as fun to shoot as it looks?
